Horse Shows With Leila

This is my little sister Leila. She is 9 years old and rides horses just like me and my mom. This is when we went to a horse show at the polo fields in Summerland, CA. Leila was riding a pony named Candy. Horse shows have always been a big part in my life because my mom used to be a horse trainer so when I was little I was always riding horses. Now my sister rides horses too. She goes to San Marcos Stables in Summerland about three times a week to practice horse back riding. She really likes it and that makes me really happy to see her enjoying something that both my mom and I liked doing together.

Leila performing a walk-trot at the show on the polo fields

Leila won a first place, second place, and a third place ribbon for her division. She did really well and we were all very proud of heart and her accomplishments.

Candy is a great pony and Leila loves riding him. He is so well trained and a great pony for little kids like my sister who’s only 9, but so far doing really well. Leila has gotten really good at riding, really fast, and she really likes it so it makes it so much more fun for her. I always really liked riding, but never as much and Leila or my mom, and I think that’s why I never compeated as much as them or practiced enough.

Leila compeated against about 12 other girls all around her same age and level. We were very happy that she won first in that division. My mom used to win all kinds of horse shows when she was little all the way until she was in her mid twenties. I also copeated a lot when I was little, but not really anymore.

All in all, we are very proud of Leila for perusing this passion of hers and following through with it.

The cloudy mountains

It was a cloudy weekend in the mountains this May. Suprisingly spring has already come but its so cloudy! We drove up APS and found a great little spot to park the car. It was an amazing veiw up at the top of the ridge. We could see all of Santa Barbara and more.

The clouds were just rolling over the hills and it was such a beautiful sight. The mountains were all green from all of the rain that we got this winter.

This was the veiw from the top of the ridge right next to the car. You can see all of Santa Barbara and the ocean. I love going up to the mountains especially when its cloudy because it puts everything in perspective. You can see the whole town fro so high up and it just looks so pretty. It was also nice that it was cloudy because sometimes if you go up there and its supper sunny it gets to hot and uncomfortable. When your that high up you can basically stay up there for hours. We were up there for about three hours just watching the beautiful veiw.

On our way down from the mountains we stopped at butterfly beach and ate some food. There were suprisingly more clouds on the mountains than there were at the beach. The tide was pretty low and there weren’t really any waves so it was a really nice day there. It was still freezing outside but once you were in the sun for a little bit, you warmed up pretty fast.

Overall, it was an amazing weekend filled with beautiful sights that made me feel like a tourist in my own town! The beach and the mountains here are so lovely, if you haven’t visited them recently I would highly recommend it! Especially the mountains this time of year because the rivers and creeks are all flowing and the hill sides are all green and lush.

Anyway, thanks for reading, “The couldy mountians,” I hoped you enjoyed my blog this week. Like and comment if you did! Stay tuned for next weeks addition of, “Hawkes Tales!”

Stagecoach!

This weekend I went to Stagecoach! Stagecoach is in Indio, Palm Desert. I went with my mom and good friend Paige. We stayed in Rancho Las Palmas, we actually own a condo there, but my cousins were staying in it and there wasn’t enough room, so we rented one in the same place, and even visited my cousins that were right down the road.

Paige slept over at my house Thursday night, so that we could leave early Friday morning. We got on the road at about 9, and watched movies and napped on the drive there. We stopped by the venue and picked up our VIP passses, tickets, wristbands, and shuttle passes. We were off the the condo next. It was a great condo right by the pool with three rooms, one for each of us.

That night Luke Bryan was playing, we was the most popular and my favorite. Paige and I showered and got ready, then we took the shuttle to the concert. We walked around a little and got lemonade while the opening bands and singers played, then we met my mom at our seats by the stage for Luke Bryan.

He was an amazing singer and great performer. It was quite a show!

We made the mistake of staying for the whole time, which ended at 12am, then we had to get on the shuttle with EVERYONE! It took us 2 and a half hours to get home because the shuttles were full and thousands of people were all leaving at the same time. We finally got back at 2:30am. Even though we only were staying about 25 minutes away.

The next day we slept in to about 12:30pm, we were so tired from the night before. We hung out at the condo, ate breakfast and went in the pool and even vistited my cousins that were near by.

That night we arrived and saw Cole Swindell, and Sam Hunt, who were great performers and put on an amazing show.

That night we left before they were over and managed to get home by 12:45am, which was much better than the night before. When Paige and I got back we put on face masks and went in the hot tube to relax and unwind.

The last day, Sunday, my mom left early to go to the spa, so Paige and I chilled at the condo and watched Forensic Files, ate ice cream, took a bath, and then when my mom got back she took us down the way to visit Tiffany and Hayden at there house that was about 5 minutes away. After we hung out with Tiffany and Hayden my mom got us cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory, we ate some of it and saved the rest for later in the hot tub. We got ready and went to see Jason Aldean. That was a great show and a fun night. Paige and I were dancing and singing and having a blast.

The next day we left early and got home at about 3. It was a long ride but we were glad to be home.

I miss Palm Desert already!

Prom 2019!!!

Prom!
Christian, Quincy, me, and Cody all at my house for some pre-prom pictures!

This Saturday was senior prom! First Quincy and Christian met Cody and I at my house for some pictures with the parents. We were all super exited and couldn’t wait to go. Christian drove us to Chloe’s house and as soon as we got there Cody and I realized that we forgot out tickets! So then we had to drive all the way back to my house, which luckily was only up the street, to get our tickets and ID’s.

Simon (left) and Cody (right)

We made it to Chloe’s house and as soon as we walked in we were bombarded with kids and parents. It was so chaotic. We got our stickers telling us what bus we would be on, the four of us were all on the ladybug sticker bus.

All the guys!

There were so many people there, it was basically the whole senor class, plus some more sophomores and a few juniors. We all ate dinner at Chloe’s and played music and danced from about 5:15-7:45, when the party bus picked us all up. Chloe’s house before was one of my favorite parts of the night it was so fun seeing everyone and taking pictures together!

Mathew, Cody, and Simon

The dance was on the roof top of the Moxi Museum of exploration, it was an amazing venue with great music and even better people. The dance was over by 11pm, soo we all took the party bus from prom to our friend Gergias house. There were less people there, but still there was a lot of us. We all hung out there for another couple of hours then left at about 12:30am. Cody and I went back to my house for a bit and had a great time telling my mom about prom and then hearing her prom stories.

Cody and I taking pictures under the huge PROM sign!

Overall, it was an amazing night filled with amazing people. I couldn’t have asked for a better prom, luckily I’m only a sophomore so I get to go to two proms!

Miles the Pony

Miles the perfect and pretty pony.

This is Miles. He is about 6 years old and tan with bright blonde hair. My sister Leila got Miles for Christmas this year. She was thriled when she opened the picture frame and saw a picture of Miles with a big red bow tied around him. It was by far the best Christmas present she’s ever even seen!

My mom was a horse trainer before she had my brothers, so she knows a lot about horses and horseback riding. I used to ride a lot when I was little, I ride less now, but back in the day I won all kinds of awards and ribbons. My sister rides competitively like I did when I was her age, and she’s one a couple important awards herself.

Leila riding Miles at the barn.

This is Leila riding Miles this weekend. She has riding about three times a week and loves it. She rides at San Marcos Stables, in Summerland, thats also where we keep Miles because we have Willow in our back yard, and its not big enough for two ponies.

Miles playfully enjoying the dirt on a hot sunny day.

This is Miles playfully rolling around on the dirt in his paddock. He loves to play and roll around in the sun all the time. Leila and I love to brush and pamper him, I can tell he loves it too. His show name is even strawberry shortcake.

I really like having all of these animals and I’m very happy to have horses and be able to be a part of that horse culture. Miles is a truly amazing pony and he has the biggest heart and an even bigger personality!

Just a little pony rolling around

Overall I am very happy that my mom added Miles to the big and crazy family! He’s an amazing addition and a wonderful pony!

Miramar Beach

Miramar at 6 o’clock

Miramar beach is one of my favorite places in Santa Barbara. Because I live right by there I go all the time now, i’ll bring my dog Bronx and we’ll walk up and down the beach for what seems like forever.

In the future I would love to travel around the world to exotic palaces but I could never imagine living anywhere but here. Santa Barbara and the beaches that line our coast are absolutely amazing.

Personally I think that the sunsets at Miramar are the best during the winter, but there is nothing better than the long nights in the summer. When its wam out i’ll take my dog to this beach and he’ll play in the waves and come back super sandy and smelling like the beach, he loves coming here almost as much as I do.

Recently they have rebuilt the “Miramar,” I haven’t been yet, but from the outside it looks beautiful. I think that this hotel is good and bad, it is good because it is another beautiful attraction on my favorite beach, but its bad because then there is a lot more “traffic” which ultimately makes the beach less peaceful.

Miramar at night

I think that this beach is the prettiest at night. Because there are houses all aligned along the sand, as soon as it gets dark all of the lights on the houses light up the beach again. The silhouettes of the trees and the ocean makes it look like a painting.

To the left side of Miramar, past all the rocks is a little cove, called Sharks Cove. When I was little my dad and I would walk along the whole beach all the way to this little cove and eat sandwiches and jellybeans, that was one of my favorite childhood memories. I will never forget this beach and one day I would love to live right on it, ands wake up every morning to the beautiful veiw.

Spring Break in Mammoth

Mammoth Mountain

This spring break I went to Mammoth Mountain. I met a lot of people up there and we all skied and snowboarded. It was so much fun to be in the snow again, I already want to go back!

Lucas
Stuart
Andreas

We went to the park on the mountain and everyone went off jumps. I was filming Lucas, Stuart, and alll the other guys. There were lots of falls, but it was worth it.

We made it to the top of the mountain, the snow was great and the weather was perfect that day. The runs at the top were super hard and black diamonds, but it was a lot of fun.

The next days were very windy, and it even snowed. It was so pretty to look out on the balcony and see the tress covered in white and the whole place looked like it came out of a Christmas book.

Heading home.

The drive back was long, about six hours, but we made a stop at a bakery in Bishop that was only about an hour from Mammoth. It was a long ride with my three younger siblings in the car being as loud as can be, but luckily we made it home just fine.

It was a very pretty ride back though. The mountains had just been snowed on and the sky cleared up. There was so much snow everywhere and the sight was so beautiful.

We made on last stop on our way home, the Poppy Fields. It was a Poppy reserve and it went on for miles. We figured we would never really come all the way out there just to see the Poppies, so we decided it was a stop that we needed to take. All my siblings loved it and it was a beautiful sight.

Over all, our trip to Mammoth was a success and a great way to spend spring break. I’m planning another trip soon, and I cant wait to go back there again!

The Snowy Sequoias

It was a six hour bus ride from Santa Barbara high school to the Montecito Sequoia Retreat. I went to this retreat with the sophomore MAD class.

This is Kendall and the rest of the class in the common area as soon as we got off the bus. Everyone was so excited to be in the snow, and couldn’t wait for the first adventure. In the common areas we played ping-pong relax on the couches, and hung out with everyone during the downtime, in between snowboarding sledding, hiking, and skiing. The first activity we did was walking around the frozen lake and then finding hills to sled down, it was so much fun to be in the snow. The second day we went on a beautiful hike up to the top ridge of the mountains and looked out over all the sequoias. On this retreat we weren’t allowed to have our phones except for on the bus going there and coming back from the retreat, so there are no pictures of the ridge but it was so beautiful I don’t know how I could ever forget it. Later that day we all went snowboarding, we made jumps and snowboarded off of those, hiked through the trees and came down in the powder, we did this for about four hours. There was a ton of snow! It was a great experience and i’m so glad I went!

On the way back home the buses made a stop, at the Sequoia national Forest. We took a little walk through all of the trees and learned a little bit about them, they were so tall and beautiful, it was amazing.

This is Hayden and I standing in front of the giant sequoias, we had a great time looking at all of the trees and being in the snow.

I would say that the sophomore retreat in the snowy sequoias was a hit, everyone had so much fun and it was a great experience. I hope I can go back another time!

Peter’s Place

Party at Peter’s Place!

This weekend I went to Peters house for a little party. Andrew, Hayden, Paige, Peter, Tiffany, Eric, Harison, Stuart, Haile, and I were all there. We had a blast in the pool room, singing dancing, and playing games like pool.

Paige once we finished setting up the bed! Almost ready ready for party time!

Paige came over to my house to get ready before we went to Peters, we got the guest house all set up for our sleep over, and waited for Stuart to pick us up. Once he got us, we went to Chick-Fil-A because Stuart was hungry, Paige and I already ate at my house though. Then we picked up Haile and went off to Peters.

Tiff and Hayden squished on Peters chair!

Tiff and Hayden were posing for me squished on the chair and having a great time watching some of the guys all play pool. After all the dancing we were all pretty tired.

Eric, Andrew, Harrison, and Lucas all having a great time after playing cards

Oh no, Paige found a cat.

We were all in the pool room and all of a sudden Paige just bursts in and yells, “guys I found a cat!” We all ran up to Peters cat, and it was definitely the fattest cat I have ever seen. Paige definitely loved the cat but that poor cat wanted to get away from her as soon as possible.

Stuart holding the whipped cream, Hayden, Peter, Tiffany, and Paige, with the Gatorade
Peter should have seen that one coming

Stuart squirted the whipped cream all of Peters face, and everyone was laughing so hard, it definitely was a funny night.

After Peters house Eric drove us back to my house where Paige, Tiffany, Peter, Eric, and I all spent the night in my guest house. We watched movies and ate snacks, finally falling asleep at 5 am! It was a fun night!

Sunny San Francisco

The skyline looking over the Golden Gate Bridge in SF

I went to San Fransisco with one of my best friends Chloe Spievak, her sister Sophie, and Sophie’s friend, Bailey.

The Museum of Ice Cream in San Francisco, with Sophie and Bailey.

The first night we were Sf we went to the museum of ice cream, which is surprisingly a real place. They have so many different fun rooms, like a sprinkles pool and a cherry room, the one Bailey and Sophie are posing in.

The Veiw from the porch of our house, looking down the street in the early morning.

The next morning Chloe and I got up early, made coffee and sat on the porch, just enjoying the morning-time view. We stayed in the house right next to the famous “Pink Ladies,” it was a perfect spot to be.

A restaurant in upper Sf

For lunch Chloe and I walked to upper Sf and found this really cool restaurant. I got avocado toast and mushrooms, and she got the breakfast bowl. In the cups is homemade Kombucha on tap.

That’s Chloe hanging on the rail on our way to pier 39.
The veiw at sunset looking at the buildings on the water.

On our way to Pier 39 we stopped to see the sunset over the buildings. It looked like the sun was sprawled out across the sky.

At a fish house restaurant walking back from pier 39.

This is Chloe standing on the rail right next to the fish house we went to for dinner, after visiting the Pier.

All the city lights lined up along the bay.

San Francisco has the most beautiful nights, the city lights that line the side walk gleam on the water and it makes the night feel so alive. I defiantly like the nights here the most.

The harbor at night

This is the harbor by the Pier, there were so many boats, it was surprisingly different from the harbor we have in SB.

The veiw from our house at midnight.

This was the view from our porch at midnight, the last night we stayed in San Francisco. It was a really fun 5 day trip and I hope to go again soon. I would defiantly recommend going if you haven’t already!
